A marriage of convenience isn’t exactly what Rachel Peters had in mind.
What else can she do if she wants to raise her young niece, and give her a more stable home than she and her sister grew up in? Rachel is at risk of losing custody of her last blood relative, and she needs to prove she can provide for her niece and raise her in a nurturing environment.
Professor Brandon Barlow is invested in his college students’ lives, wanting to ensure their success. When it is clear that Rachel is struggling, he takes a personal interest in trying to help her. But can he keep his heart from getting involved in the process?
Brandon reaches out to Rachel as he tries to break through the walls she has built up over the years. With love and patience, Brandon hopes to help Rachel realize that, even when she experiences storms in her life, she isn’t always alone.
“It was a sweet romance story that also demonstrated the love, patience, and concern of God.”
“Truly one of a kind inspirational love story about trusting in God and in others!”
“The story does play out in a way that really glorifies God.”
CIR: What gave you the inspiration for this book?
SNITKER: All through my life, music has always inspired me and comforted me. The song, “Sometimes He Calms the Storm” on Scott Krippayne’s album Wild Imagination was a favorite. Whenever I felt overwhelmed by something, I would play this song and remember that I wasn’t going through it alone. Even when the storm seemed to be raging around me, God was holding me close and helping me survive.
CIR: What was the writing process like?
SNITKER: This book was on my heart for a long time and came together over the course of several years. Once I got to the point in my life where I could really sit down and focus on it, I felt like everything came into place. I feel that God used some of the experiences in my own life to help me grasp what I truly wanted to express in this book.
CIR: What do you hope your readers will get out of this book?
SNITKER: I hope my readers come away from this book realizing that they aren’t alone in life. Whether it’s family, friends, or God, there is always someone there to help them through the difficult times in their lives. I hope that this book brings my readers a renewed faith as they realize that it’s those difficult times that bring us all closer to each other and to our Heavenly Father.
CIR: What is the main character like?
SNITKER: Rachel has had to deal with a lot in her life and she’s determined to handle everything on her own. She’s strong, stubborn, and she’s been hurt. Trusting someone with the situation she facing or the emotions she’s dealing with is one of the hardest things she’s had to do.
