There are three rules in the small town of Leeds Point, New Jersey:
Never stay out after dark.
Never go into the Pineys.
And, more than anything, never speak of the Jersey Devil.
Serenity Cantwell knows all too well the Jersey Devil exists. The recurring nightmares of his glowing green eyes make their way into her dreams, causing her to relive her encounter with the beast every single night. But as people she knows start to disappear, and end up dead in the middle of the Pine Barrens, she pushes away her fear of the forest in search of answers. What she finds will change her life forever. Secrets will be revealed, a curse will be set in motion, and friendships will be tested. But most of all, love could prove to be deadly.
“Eckrich transported me completely to a new world with her story. I was THERE, in the book, experiencing everything right along side the characters, the story playing out like a movie in my mind. Or maybe like a vivid dream of my own alternate existence. It’s not often that I feel compelled to go loony tunes over telling everyone how AMAZING it is. This is just one of those rare, stand out books.”
“I love how she took an urban legend of the Jersey Devil and put a different spin on it. She made it riveting. I think if you’re a fan of paranormal or urban legends, then you will enjoy this book.”
“Eckrich creates a thrilling tale full of secrets and love that will change Serenity’s life forever. I highly recommend this book to lovers of paranormal stories. Romance, action, and the paranormal world all collide into this amazing book.”
CIR: What inspired this book?
ECKRICH: I’ve always been fascinated with the legend of the New Jersey Devil, so I wanted to use the legend as the base of the story and add in my own romantic elements.
CIR: What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
ECKRICH: I loved doing the research on the New Jersey Devil. I’d always been familiar with the legend, but I had no idea how many different stories it contained.
CIR: What did you learn about your characters while writing this book?
ECKRICH: I learned how strong my characters really are. Serenity has a lot to deal with in the story. She discovers a lot about herself and the guy she is falling in love with.
CIR: Is there any content that some readers might find questionable despite the overall “clean” feel of the book?
ECKRICH: The only questionable material would be the off-screen sex scene. Other than that, you have the first kiss and the feelings of falling in love for the first time.
