Lily’s idea of the perfect summer doesn’t include Paris, pop stars, paparazzi, or a party at the Plaza in Manhattan. She’d rather spend her sixteenth birthday in Texas, wearing jeans and riding her horse. But when your mother’s the ruler of a perfume empire, anything can happen…
“Kristina Miranda has written a captivating story that will delight the imagination of every teen age girl …..her mom and even grandmother… The character Lily Carter (a true Texan) flows into your heart with each intriguing chapter.”
“I found the story engaging and beautifully written.”
“The underlying premise of love, family and perspective stick with you long after the last page is turned.”
CIR: What would you say this book is most like?
MIRANDA: I love romantic comedies. My daughter and I have been known to watch our favorite movies like What a Girl Wants, The Princess Diaries, and A Cinderella Story, over and over again. This book has a similar feel to it.
CIR: What do you hope your readers will get out of this book?
MIRANDA: To be both entertained and inspired. I hope readers escape into a fun world they might not get the chance to experience in real life and travel to NYC and Paris along the way. I hope they laugh, are moved, and feel good about who they are when they finish!
CIR: Tell us about Lily.
MIRANDA: Lily has built walls around herself by hiding behind her books, her horse, and her frumpy clothing. Inside she’s witty and strong, and maybe a little stubborn.
CIR: What themes do you address in this book?
MIRANDA: The main theme is to be true to oneself, and to let yourself shine. It also touches on love, the joys of sisterhood, and forgiveness.
