Book 1: Her Best Match

Anne Best is a forty-five-year-old widow from Weatherford, Texas. With her two daughters grown and out of the house, she feels a loss of purpose. To her great surprise, she lands the job as a secretary for Steven Gherring, the fifty-year-old billionaire bachelor who owns Gherring Inc. Anne leaves her safe home for a new adventure in the Big Apple.

Confusion, poor communication, interruptions, old girlfriends, misfortune, and bad timing contribute to the roller-coaster ride to the inevitable happy ending, with lots of laughs along the way.

“An enjoyable,  fun,  flirty and romantic read.”

“Anne Best, the sweet empty nester from Texas, definitely left me encouraged to look for the best in others and also to get to know the people I come across in my day to day life. Very refreshing!”

“I can’t remember the last time I got so worked up over fictional characters! I laughed, I cried, I got exasperated, then I laughed a whole lot more.”

Book 2: Best Dating Rules

Emily Best, who loves ballet, art and reading, tries to adhere to her strict household dating rules and hold her heart in check, but she’s thrown off-balance by her crazy attraction to Spencer, a handsome, athletic, outdoors enthusiast with the reputation of a player. But Spencer has a secret . . . He’s never kissed a girl!

“A fun read with tons of comedy.”

“I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to escape into a fun (and innocent) love story!”

“Emily and Spencer embody the essence of young love, with its excitement and its awkwardness.”

Book 3: Best Foot Forward

Grace is about to make the biggest mistake of her life.

Everyone knows Grace is spicy, fun, prone to mishaps, and little bit crazy. But though she encourages others to find love, she’s terrified to make the same kind of commitment herself.

Brad’s kisses make her knees go weak along with her self-control. So she determines to end their relationship before she becomes too emotionally attached. Too late, she realizes her actions were a mistake.

Now she wants him back, but klutziness and awful luck conspire to keep them apart. Add a mischievous brother and a terrible shrew to the mix, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster.

Can her three sisters brighten her spirits along with her hair? Will Brad find it in his heart to forgive Grace? Will he be there to catch her when she falls?

“I laughed until I cried at the crazy enactment of the Marshall Rules. This book is a true delight and definitely a clean read. I urge anyone who loves a bit of romance to pick this one up immediately.”

“This is a moving yet light story that I found hard to put down. The story line is fresh, characters real, and the book just flowed. A great read!!”

“So sweet and hilarious. Grace is absolutely crazy!”

Book 4: Best Laid Plans

Charlie Best denies her attraction for Josh for two years, until unforeseen circumstances force him to find a wife immediately. So Charlie sets out to help him find happiness in someone else’s arms. Soon almost everyone is plotting and planning at cross-purposes, trying to convince Josh whom he should marry, while a buxom nurse schemes to snag the handsome doctor for herself.

“I laughed, I cried, I fell in love.”

“A great read for anyone looking for a spectacular romantic comedy!”

“Dearen delivers again!”

Prequel Novella: The Best is Yet to Come

Peek inside the head of Steven Gherring the first time he meets Anne!

Romance is in the air and this is the Best way to breath it in.”

“I loved the shift in perspective. It added so much to the drama and mystique of Her Best Match.”

“A fun teaser for Tamie Dearen’s first book.”

CIR: What gave you the idea for the Best series?

DEAREN: Her Best Match was my first novel. Before that, I’ve only written poems and songs. But I wanted to show that love and romance wasn’t just for young people, thus I envisioned Anne Best, my forty-five-year-old widow. When I realized my life was half over, I dreamed about beginning a new adventure in life–starting over. For me, that was a new Master’s Degree and a career in writing. For Anne, it was a new life in New York City.

CIR: What was the writing process like for you?

DEAREN: Once I started writing, I was obsessed. I thought about my characters all the time. I lay awake at night thinking about them, and I dreamed about them. No writer’s block for me. I simply couldn’t find enough time to write. The characters came to life and told me the story.

CIR: Tell us about Anne Best.

DEAREN: Here is how one reviewer described Anne: “The heroine may be a woman whom in our jaded culture provokes an eye roll and a “you’ve got to be kidding” smirk: She’s a ways past 40. She has no skeletons in her closet or train wrecks in her personal life. She has a working moral compass and a healthy libido to boot. She has two adult daughters who actually buy in to her Kool-aid of high standards and insistence on holding out for Mr. Right. A prehistoric long-extinct creature? No. A refreshing role model who works out, steps out, gets the guy and keeps her soul. Anne Best is a happily-ever-after why-shouldn’t-it-be-reality-show role model who challenges a generation of Best women to get out there and go for, wait for and insist on the gold.”

CIR: Are any of the characters like you or someone you know?

DEAREN: I have to admit that I modeled the two daughters’ personalities after those of my own daughters. In fact, my girls called my cell phone and left a message to their mother, “Anne”, referring to themselves by the character names, “Emily and Charlie”.  My husband jokes that I killed him before the book started.

CIR: Is there any content that some readers might find questionable despite the overall “clean” feel of the book?

DEAREN: Anne is squeaky clean and doesn’t believe in sex outside of marriage. But at the end of the book, there is a peek at the time immediately before and after the wedding night. Of course I don’t describe any sexual acts or touching of private body parts. But I intended for this book to be read by adults, rather than teens, and I really wanted to address the insecurities that Anne faced after a long hiatus from marriage. Since most of the women I know are insecure about their bodies, I wanted to show how a woman could feel completely comfortable and secure within the bonds of marriage to a loving and committed husband. Steven fills this roll perfectly.

  1. A Rose in Bloom - Rebekah Lyn Books

[…] January 28, 2015 by Onisha Ellis Leave a Comment I discovered Tamie Dearen’s novels when I read Her Best Match, a lively Rom-com whose main character is a mature woman. I enjoyed it so much, I downloaded the entire series and have designated them my “emergency reads”. You know the type I am talking about.  The hormones are out of balance, everything annoys you and you can’t decide if you want to cry or yell.  I am pleased  that our website is part of the cover reveal for her newest novel. I am reading it weekly as a serial novel and I hope you enjoy it as much as I am. A Rose In Bloom, a serial romantic comedy by Tamie Dearen, is available to read at no charge on the blogsite for a limited time. The beautiful cover was designed by the multi-talented Victorine Lieske. The completed book will be available soon on Kindle, Nook, and iBooks! Like all books written by Tamie Dearen, this is a Clean Indie Read! […]
