CIR: What do you hope your readers will get out of this series?
BLUM: My hope is that people will see that not all of the Wild West was truly Wild. There were some decent, God-fearing people who did their best to live a life pleasing to God.
CIR: What themes do you address in this book?
BLUM: The main theme in A Mighty Fortress is trusting God. Other themes are protection and survival.
CIR: This is the beginning of a series. What’s going to make the whole ensemble unique?
BLUM: Every single book in the Hymns of the West series will be completely clean with no swear words, despite the Western genre. Even the two or three books that will have some romance in them will be clean romance-wise. One of my goals is to promote how a romantic relationship is possible without getting physical until marriage.
CIR: When do we get more?
BLUM: I have plans for at least three more books: Amazing Grace, Come Thou Fount, and And Can It Be?. Book 3 will hopefully be coming out early 2015.
